Somewhere along the way, the hen party grew up. The single chaotic night out has become a whole weekend away — and the smartest groups have worked out that the venue matters more than the itinerary.
Renting a private villa, rather than booking a block of hotel rooms, changes the entire feeling of the weekend.
Why a house beats a hotel
In a hotel, you are guests. In a house, you are hosts. That difference shapes everything:
- You control the music, the timing and the noise — no front desk calling at midnight.
- The communal space is yours, so the group never splinters into separate rooms.
- Self-catering one or two meals dramatically lowers the cost per person.
- The pool, the garden and the terrace become the backdrop instead of an upsell.
Splitting the cost fairly
The maths of a group house almost always wins. A villa that looks expensive at first glance, divided by twelve guests across two nights, often costs less per head than two hotel rooms — and you get a private pool thrown in.
Agree the split early, collect deposits before booking, and keep one person as the single point of contact for the house.
The one thing groups forget
Bedrooms. A house that sleeps “up to 14” might do so with bunk beds and a sofa bed. Before you fall in love with the terrace, count the real beds and the bathrooms, and make sure the sleeping arrangements match the group you are actually bringing.
Get that right, and the weekend takes care of itself.
